I [plan] to purchase a new Continental trailer for my 1968 Sakonnett. The trailer shop here in Fort Lauderdale says that their model C7 would fit my boat. I want a bunk and roller type trailer in either aluminum or galvanized steel. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Continental makes a very good quality rig. I've owned a few over the years.

Since you are also in Florida and I'm sure on salt water, go with aluminum.

Tom , that's a pretty good trailer You will be happy(channel steel galvanized not rolled) the trick to do is BEFORE you use the trailer, (before you even place the boat on the trailer) go and purchase some LPS3 (comes in a spray can) now coat all of your nuts, bolts and springs, coat the inside of the hubs and the axle, Get an extra spare tire on a mount. Do Not forget to rinse your trailer after you use it. Best place to purchase the trailer is Discount Trailer Warehouse in Hollywood Fla. Its on 441 2 blocks north of Hollywood Blvd on the west side, yellow building. The guy has been there for 40 plus years, I tried to purchase a small trailer at the Ft. Laud trailer place and this guy beat it by 125 dollars...Happy towing

My '67 Eastport rides on a galvanized Continental. Pulls, launches, and retrieves well. Aluminum frame lasts about forever but with good care a galvanized trailer will last 25 or more years. Just do as Contender said. Your running gear and panel brackets and bolts are the high maintence parts. Dave

We're on our third Continental trailer and have been pleased with them all. The one we currently have under our 170 Montauk is equiped with torsion bar suspension and the stainless steel upgrade. I put on lots of road miles in a year going back and forth to North east Georgia from Florida with no problems to date.(two years) Not sure about the prices in Lauderdale. I've purchased all three of ours from Bill who owns The Hub in Mangonia Park. A quick call might be worth your while. Hope this helps.
