Need to purchase a permanent tank that will not varnish my carb from Ethenol. Currently have Perko red plastic one. Ideas? Newbie here. Regards

DSaltydog,
I just changed my Pate 15 gallon tank. I see West Marine has portable tanks. Moeller 20 gallon model 8978421 $154.99 and Moeller 15 gallon model 9398561 $239.99
21"L 16"W 12"H on the last one. Im also researching custom aluminum tanks. I hope that helps.

I had a custom aluminum tank that sat under the seat of my Dauntless 15. Seems like it was around 20 gallons which was more than enough for the Johnson 70.

FL 15 Where did you get the alum tank? I have been using the red plastics, and want to get away from them as E!) is de varnishing them, and causing issues. Regards,

Why not just replace with a new, red, 15 gallon Tempo tank? I replaced mine 4 years ago when I bought my boat. This included new fuel line, bulb, fuel/water separator and an in-line fuel filter under the hood. I regularly add a can of Sea Foam and Sta-Bil when I fuel up. Never had a problem.

You do not need to change your tank. The tank is not the issue.

With the first few tanks of ethanol blended fuel, the tank and fuel lines will be cleaned of any gunk. Once done, you are fine.

The concern should be if the hoses are alcohol resistant and treating the fuel to inhibit water and phase separation.

Suggest a water separator filter in addition to the fuel filter (in the engine)

Do a search (below new topic button) on ethanol.

Tempo is no longer in business. A replacement option is either a Moeller plastic or Mirax aluminum above deck tank.

For a below deck tank, FMT sells replacement tanks. See reference section/OEM vendors.
