Crane is one of many Islands not serviced by the Washington State Ferry system. It makes it very cool in my opinion. You have to go everywhere by boat.

My Revenge at the private dock I was staying at. It services 3 houses and my host owns 1/2 of the dock space. There are about 60 lots on the island and about a dozen private docks. This is Wasp Passage and you are looking at Shaw.

It's a blast when the inter-island ferry goes by.

Really cool at night.

The opposite side of Crane with Pole Pass in the background. This is where the barge can come in to access the Circle road which goes around the island. There is an Island dock here also with Island cars waiting for their owners.

No tabs on these vehicles.

I wonder how long this beauty has been here?

All emergency and fire is up to who ever is residing on the island at that time. They had a drill when I was there. Had a chopper land at the tiny grass airfield and everything. Pretty impressive.

A shot of where I stayed taken on a different day.

They call the "guest house" the Pod.

What a nice location. The only down side would be dock exposure to wakes. John

As always, fine photographs. The San Juan group is very beautiful. Do you ever run into Royce up there?...we don't see him around this website much anymore and I wonder how he's doing.

I met Royce once, in August of 2005 while fishing in Open Bay.

I have not seen him since.
