I purchased a pair of the 50th anniversary logos form the Boston Whaler Factory store on ebay. I am going to put them on 1972 13. When I took them out to the boat I found the Starboard side logo was different then the original. The original has Boston in front of the harpoon. The new ones have Boston behind the harpoon on both sides. I pulled out a couple of catalogs I could find. In the 2005 catalog shows logos in both orientations. The 2007 catalog shows all with Boston behind the harpoon. Does any one know when Whaler changed the logos?

I think this happened It in around 2000? Any way Yes, all "CLASSIC" whalers had the logos with the word Boston in front of the Harpoon however, that was on the PORT side. Also, the top of all of the words always slanted toward the bow as well as the sled.

Stone,

Either way for the price they are selling those at you could not go wrong. I was even thinking of getting a pair.

So my 1999 Dauntless 14 is a "Classic"?

No...it is a Post "classic." Logos do not denote a classic or post classic it has to do with the hull design. All Fisher or Dougherty designed hulls can be regarded as a "Classic". Most classics went out of production after 1992 except for the 17 Outrage I and the 17' Montauk.

I only stated that the "Classic" hulls have always used that style of logo.

All classics have old logos but not all old logos are classics. Gotcha. I like to think of mine as a "Post Classic Classic".

Magic brush got it right on my boat. My 1999 Dauntless 14 came with the old logo and when I went from green to black Janis got it right.
