Got the opportunity to fish with Joe Morgan aboard his 20 foot classic Outrage a couple of times this week on Lake Lanier. The lake is quickly approaching an all time low, however there are still a couple of ramps open. Although we didn't land any stripers, we did catch a couple of big spotted bass. More importantly, we had a great time, and enjoyed a beautiful winter day in Georgia. Thought I'd share a pic of the sunrise:

CW's Matt Geiger went fishing today with me on the Menemsha- cold start to the morning, 27 degrees, but the Menemsha cockpit and windshield really kept us comfortable while running across the lake. She looked good, for an "ugly duckling"(thanks Joe), at the ramp too!

After idling through some thick fog, we set out baits and marked some nice fish.

We had some nice strikes, and lost what probably would have been my biggest striper, judging from the line he took, and the size of the trout he tore off the hook!
We came up with one decent fish on top water baits, and released this one tired, but unharmed:

I know, nice hat....The Menemsha still has some minor engine problems, which I hope to get resolved today. -k

It's good to hear you guys are still getting out there. Thanks for the pictures! Has anyone checked out the new Dam Store? I drove around McEver a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find it. Garey

Which must have had you wondering "Now, just where the heck is that Dam Store!!"

Nice fish Kevin. I'll be out fishing tomorrow and Sunday as well.
I really like your boat man. It looks great! I would love to find one and fix it up. I don't think it's easy to find one around these parts though.

Garey- The new Dam Store is on McEver (although it is called Peachtree Industrial Blvd. before it turns into a two lane road) on the right hand side about 1 mile before the road goes to two lanes. It is in a building that says "Atlantic Billiards" on the roof. Joe and I stopped by last Friday. I think it's gonna be nice, but there's a lot of work to do! Rumor has it that the old Dam Store will reopen as a bait and tackle under new management with a new name.
Max-The name Dam Store lends itself to many puns, and the Dam Store has capitalized on it with "Dam hats", "Dam shirts", etc...

Erik- I love the way the Menemsha rides, and keeps us warmer than an open center console on cold mornings. Let us know how you do- as you know, things get pretty cranky around CW in the winter time, winter time fishing and boating posts seem to help ease the tension for our CW'ers with cabin fever!

FYI- Charleston is the last open safe ramp on the lake. Gravel is supposed to be laid at the end of the Shoal Creek ramp sometime soon, as well as extensions on two other ramps. Pray for rain! -k
