Author Topic:   Let me Google that for you

The next time someone posts a question that could have been easily "Googled" on their end, try sending them a link from letmegooglethatforyou.com. I personally found great humor in this web site. I plan on using it very soon I suspect.

Example:

Before you do that...make sure the link works.

Yeah, I was just noticing that too. It's not the link. The web site isn't processing inquiries. I'm sure it will be fixed soon enough.

Yea right, let's bypass CW and google all BW related queries, BS.

Things slow up north ?

GreatBayNH posted 12-11-2008 01:45 PM ET (US)     Profile for GreatBayNH  Send Email to GreatBayNH
I e-mailed the site admins. They are aware of the problem and are working with their service provider.

Yes, things are cold and slow.

Come on down to Cape May NJ, it was 65 yesterday.
GreatBayNH posted 12-11-2008 02:20 PM ET (US)     Profile for GreatBayNH  Send Email to GreatBayNH
It was in the 60's here yesterday too.

OK, the site seems to be working again. Give her a try.

With a name like Chopbuster I'd think you'd be all over this kind of thing.

Now THAT"S cool...and very useful to me in my daily grind. (I know this isn't whaler related, but it IS December, so i hope you let this thread stand)
GreatBayNH posted 12-11-2008 06:44 PM ET (US)     Profile for GreatBayNH  Send Email to GreatBayNH
It's both forum and whaler related.

RE: Forum
It will come in useful with newbie questions where the reply is "did you Google it?" AND

RE: Whaler related
Did you see the search criteria?

All in good fun I assure you.

chopbuster, We'll be staying in Cape May Saturday night. Wish those 60 degree temps hung around through the weekend. It's my understanding that it will be in the mid 30's on Saturday. I miss summer already.

They're calling for temps in the high forties this weekend but like any other jersey shore town just being there is half the fun.

Try the lucky bones rest. at the foot of the cape may bridge (on the right) good eats.

The lobster house is nice but can be a little touristy this time of year, enjoy your stay.

GreatbayNH;

Using your premise, a BW related search on google would very likely loop you to CW links anyway.....soooooo

.....and besides, it's december and mixing it up with newbies and the inexperienced does keep the juices flowing.

That's pretty cool.

We get a fair number of questions here that have either been
answered over and over, or should really extend an existing
thread.

Chopbuster, using your premise JimH should just go ahead and remove the "Powered by Google" option off the CW search page.

Don't get me going. I haven't had power for over 24 hours (and counting). I'm living in my office building with a dozen other families. Let's just say I'm in no mood.

hey Seth how are ya?

I see you got hit hard with that ice storm Hope you can get electricity/heat back soon...
Thanks for the link, stay warm and have a Merry Christmas.

GreatBayNH posted 12-13-2008 12:58 PM ET (US)     Profile for GreatBayNH  Send Email to GreatBayNH
Hit hard is right. 320,000 PSNH customers without electricity. That's just New Hampshire. I waited for 20 minutes in line for breakfast at the only McDonalds with power for miles (Newington, NH). The woman behind me drove from Wells, Maine. She said southern Maine was totally without power. Now I know why we hit the power grid first when attacking other countries. Totally debilitating.

That all said, I'm typing this from my home computer. We packed up clothes, food and pets for another 2 day stay at the office. After unloading the car when we got there I received the call that our power was back on. Come about!

The heat is slowly coming back up. I turned on every light in the house and put on some tunes.

Damage report:
A few of my fish didn't make it. They were the sacrifice to the gods in exchange for electricity.

A tree in the back yard is peeled back like a banana. More firewood for the outdoor fireplace!

Peace,

Seth

Sorry to hear about that "Great Bay NH" i live a few miles south of you in hampton, i lost power for an hour or so but it came back on. I'm pretty sure Hampton Beach, NH is the only place on the seacoast with power.
GreatBayNH posted 12-13-2008 06:22 PM ET (US)     Profile for GreatBayNH  Send Email to GreatBayNH
Update: Fish, once thought dead, came back to life. One was stuck to the filter intake and some others floating upside down. They must have been close to the end when I started to slowly turn up the heat. They are now alive and kicking. Amazing little creatures.

"Rumors of their demise..."

Funny stuff - glad you made it through. With the temps crashing it could have been pretty ugly.

Seth -

Greater Portland got slammed in the storm. 90 percent of S.Po had no power for 2 days. Those in the outer areas of will be out for a week.

FYI - At a lighted intersection that is not working, all vehicles must stop and observe the 4 way stop rule. A lot of imbeciles forgot this.

While not as bad as the big storm of '98, I saw a dozen snapped poles and a lot of large tree damage in the immediate area.

The irony is the streets in front and behind us had power the entire time. It is a bit frustrating being in a house that is pitch black and 40 degrees and look out your backdoor window and see your neighbors holiday lights.

Just finished throwing out the entire contents of the fridge and freezer. Uhhg.

By the way, one of the search features here is powered by google, while the other is a local search.

Just happy to be warm.

GreatBayNH;

Yes indeed, why should the moderator remove the google ad, afterall, he is compensated for every "click" thru.

BTW, your mood has no standing with me.
