I am wondering where the stereo is placed when it is installed by the dealer. I have seen them, I think inside the side door of the console? And what would be the best brand/model for a 17' Montauk. any discussion or pictures would be a big help. I want to make sure I do it right with
the model that works best for the Whaler. Thanks

Hi,

I didn't have a classic 17 montauk but i did have a 170 montauk. I bought the Poly Planar unit. I had it put in flush mounted to the dash.

It is the unit that advertises that you can hit it with a hose and it will stay watertight.

Sound was good though I am noit an audiophile. I liked how it sounded as i reeled in my fluke.

It is a little overpriced but i got a decent deal...shop around online....dont settle for the $350 price

good luck,

Alan

Nats I found a clarion unit with speakers on defender.com

it was very reasonable even had optional

remote control. The unit can be mounted in the

console clarion makes a hanger for theunit that

connects to the top of the console compartment
