Well, even though my trailer was a 1962 Sportsman, it was in pretty good shape. The problem was that several of the rollers had split in half and Sportsman didn't know where to get replacement rollers of the same diameter. I had previously talked with McClain Trailers about a new aluminum I-Beam trailer, and decided to actually take the boat by for them to look at, and give me a firm quote. It was quite a bit cheaper than the quote I got in in late October, so I decided to go for it.
I talked with McClain and had them cut the lift roller system off my old trailer and attach a pair of their kayak trees to it. I have five kayaks, and now a great way to carry four of them!
In the end it was like buying one trailer and getting two!
