I am in need of pictures of Military Whalers. Vintage shots of them on the water in service would be best. I hope to report the use of such photos in the near future. |

Do you have any of the Commercial Products Division brochures? Great pictures in those. Also the 1994 regular Whaler brochure has a good picture of another country's miltary use of a 22 foot Guardian. If you have Tom Clark's brochure CD's, it should be on it. If not, let me know and I'd be glad to mail you color copies. |

Better yet, just buy Tom's brochure CD's. They are amazing. |

Forntier, Thank You for back-tracking on offering to provide a copy of something for free that another member worked to produce and sell. Max |

Max - you are being contentious for no reason. For years I have offered at no charge color copies and sometimes extra original brochures to members here that are from my own collection dating back to 1961. I would even help you if you asked nice! |

Frontier - I wasn't trying to be contentious, I was actually being sincere, sorry if it came off wrong - I wasn't even aware of any "Tom Clark brochure CDs" for sale until I read your post. I just took your offer of providing someone else copies of pictures from another member's product to heart.

quote: No negativism meant - I had looked at it kind of like offering to make a copy of Jeff's new calendar for someone else and undercutting the sale. I really thought it was a good catch and back-track on your part to avoid conflict with another member's interests (even if unintential with good intent of helping someone) and was trying to give you props for it. It's all good. |

Jim, I have been looking for your photos but from my side here found the field to be a bit slim.. I am sure that there is plenty to be found from the East Coast sources. What is the magnitude of your project involving this research ? I am sure that the photos will be coming in from private sources. Serge. |

For those who want to buy Tom Clark's brochure CD's, try www.tomwclark.com. Better check with him to see if the address listed is current. It is an amazing value. With Tom's set you get 48 years worth of brochures (plus misc. speciality items), for less than the price of one. |

Regarding the Boston Whaler Catalog Collection, yes the contact information/address is all correct here: jamesmylesmcp -- What are you intending to do with the pictures you are after? Almost everything you are likely to come across is going to be copywrited by Whaler or the photographer. |

Jim, I should have a couple of pics of a whaler on the Basac river out of a town called Tra on in Vin Long Province RVN. My advisory team #68 had a 17 footer with twin 40's on it . I'll dig around for them and let you know. |

On the topic of military Boston Whalers this is one of my favorite photographs. The helmsman, on this 25' Guardian, must have envisioned himself to be a navy pilot launching off the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. The image that follows, in my photobucket, also shows 2 military Boston Whalers with the pedal to the metal. Bill |

Well, I can now tell everyone what I needed the pictures for. In an effort to make the New York event alittle more exciting we looked for a more central venue. Everything in New York is expensive so we needed some $$. Ritzyrags posted an idea of a raffle for a refit some time ago the idea set us off. We met with the people who control the U.S.S. Intrepid and presented the Whaler connection to the military, they loved it and the date we needed was open. We had the Intrepid's deck if we could come up with alittle donation. Off to Whaler we went with our idea, we asked for a bare hull 17 to be fitted out by Mike at Nauticle Lumber. They loved the idea and offed a boat motor and trailer at factory cost. We intended to raffle off the one of a kind boat at $100/500 tickets leaving us with a large gift for the Intrepid. All was well next we moved towards securing dockage. The Hudson River Foundation controls the peirs and frequently large events take place on the 400 yard peir next to the Intrepid. They were receptive and offered up the peir $40,000 for the day. The idea and plans faded away.....but we now know more people and just what we can pull off someday in the future. |

Greetings Nantucket Sleighride. Those are great photos! They are actually photos of 22' Boston Whaler Raiders. That's what the Coast Guard's Port Security Units used, prior to stepping up to the 25' Guardians. Those particular photos, were were taken at the Port of Damman, in Saudi Arabia, in 1991. They are photos of PSU 303B, getting it done. Great photos indeed!

My pleasure. There is a website that has even more of those photos. However, due to the web address having a "tilde" in it, it does not allow me to include it in my reply here. However, if you do a Google search for: "PSU303B Raiders" (without the quotes) The website I'm referring to will be the only search result. You should recognize a couple of the photos there. Regards. |
