Pate is out of business. Ethanol made their formerly excellent product unusable, and they pulled the plug. Dave |

For information about the effects of gasoline-alcohol fuels on fiberglass resin fuel tanks, please see the prior discussion on this topic:

Thanks for the update. I do not know the age of my tank - they are excellent tanks - but so far, my tank is not showing any of the signs of being affected by ethanol. However, I am still contemplating changing the tank. I just hate to get rid of such an excellent product. Pete |

They were a unique product. It sure seemed perfect. I have purchased 4 pate tanks in my lifetime The last one purchased in 2005 had a pinhole leak in the top corner. They did repair it but it was a real hassle to clean the tank and ship it to pate. Back in 2002 I was in Miami and I visited their 'factory' to meet Barbara and Chris and purchase my Pate tank. Really nice people. It was a real mom and pop operation with lots of moulds and stuff all over the place. In a real rough section of Miami. I am sure the EPA would not allow anyone to start up that type of operation today. Next whaler will have a built in tank . What are the tanks made out of on the 19 Montauk? |
