The Revenge is still in storage, but thanks to the Benevolence of Dave Buckalew and Matt Bosch I met up with them & Gambler At Elizabeth Park Ramp in Trenton, Michigan on Saturday.

Dave & Matt had come over to this side of the state for some camping, boating,& fishing down at Sterling State Park near Monroe on Lake Erie on Friday. we cast off & did some drift fishing near the mouth of the river N/of Lake Erie, what a beautiful nearly cloudless day, hundreds of boats on the river, a little breezy....later we put up the Mills canvas and headed up the Straights of Detroit to Belle Isle, along the way we encountered Roy aboard "Ichthus" he too was hunting the illusive Walleye...... and then back down to our starting destination. The Twin Etec 90's were really humming, heading downstream with the wind at our backs canvas up we were clipping along at just over 50 mph in the Livngston Channel......Great Day & Great Whaler Comradarie...Thanks Dave & Matt

Although the North wind didn't do the fishing any good, it was really nice running into you and dave and Matt out on the river. Always a treat to see other C'wavers out on the Great Lakes and connecting waters, and it was long overdue to show off my "new" Whaler (I've had her for two seasons already!). We gathered it up and took off up-river after you guys, but couldn't catch up. You must have headed back down river by then. Anyway, it was a nice break in the inaction!

Matt and I pulled up camp the next morning and towed back to my house. We stopped at Gull Lake on the way and had a nice afternoon run and late lunch at the township ramp. Then, yesterday, we launched Matt's Montauk out of Holland and spent the day on Lake Michigan. With a raw East wind at 15 kts and gusting to 30, we spent a chilly morning but landed two nice fish - a steelhead and trout. We proceeded home around 1 PM and split the fish. I had a wonderful trout and steelhead dinner with some friends last night. It made for a nice "vacation" at home, and it's back to the grind this morning.

Thanks for posting Pat - That was the inaugural run for Gambler this season. While in Detroit, I had occasion to stop by Lockeman's and plugged the motors into the computer for a data printout on performance and history. We're right around 420 hours for both engines - tracking nicely. Doug at Lockeman's thinks that the motors are in fine condition and gently chides me for babying them too much. Typical run is at idle (1,000 RPM - 47% of the time) and the other two major uses are between 2,500-3,000 and 3,000 - 3,500. I typically run them around 2,800 and 3,000 RPM when cruising.

They are certainly not working very hard!

That was my second outing in Ichthus this year, the first preceding it by a day. The long cold Winter is over!
