Hey, I am picking up my 1984 18' outrage on Sat and when I went to see it last night I thougth I was just looking at a standard 18' Outrage but this one had Grey gel coating. The guy said his brother in law order it like that. He said it was the one the Navy used and that he thought under one of the access round holes there migth be a place to mount a maching gun! LOL! I am a military buff and i got the warm fuzzy rigth away with this. Coming from a 1968 13ft boat with orgional gel coating, normal cracks and hull blemishes this boat was a dream come true! LOL! My kids were all over it in a min. and I felt this was the one. Since having my 3 kid, now 7 weeks old this boat will be easier to handle the extra family with safty.

Any way is this a true Comercial/guardian? or could you just order one with Grey gel coat?
thanks and sorry for the spellings due the all the joy I have right now!

Thanks Jim, I will have to wait till I get the boat home to see if it has the gel dot on the side.
Here is the Metal Tag number, it does not indicate Workboat. BWC6971Am84A

Still strange to have a grey hull. but I really like it!

I have the motor tag but I could not find it online.
Yamaha 150
150AET0

6gul750104 serial

it has a little lite on the motor cowling for a stern light before the days of 360 lights?
thanks for the help. I am reading as fast as I can!

Can I assume this boat was owned by some branch of the government and sold (auctioned?) to the person you are buying from? If so beware as those boats are not babied while in service so there could be a lot of damage to look out for. Also, if you look at the GSA auctions you will see these things sell for pretty low prices so consider that as you are negotiating a price. I am certain there are some great deals to be had through these channels, but many really are too good to be true...
Good luck!

That is the beauty of this. it was not owned by the government at least not very long if it was at all.
Story is guys Brother in law ordered the boat new and then did some customizing to suit him. Hopefully that is true. The hull does look great but I guess you could paint anything to look good. Looks like the orgional gelcoat. When I get it home I will really get a good look at it.
I looked at lots of the govenment whallers out there for a few years. most are really beat. some seem to be ok.
hopefully in my case the guy is on the up and up and as of now I belive him. Any case aja i am going to be happy with it. I am use to old rusty VW busses so this shoud be a piece of cake, I just hope i don't have to EAT IT! LOL!

the more I look at my 84 18 ft outrage I keep thinking maybe it was a standard 18 with dark gray gel coat. Those years were the tan, question, were some standard whalers ordered with the dark grey?
just found my stencel number near the front live well.
A51072 it was coveredup by some speaker mounting plates.

I do love it and the family and myself just had dinner on it tonight! Well in the drive way! Working on getting a motor guy to check out what is wrong with it.
