The students at Rutgers University are conducting a very cool experiement: they're sending a robotic submarine across the Atlantic. Read about it at http://rucool.marine.rutgers.edu/atlantic/index.html |

Can we vote on who should go in the submarine? |

No--it is a robotic submarine. It is mainly self directed. It only gets input every six hours at most. |

Here in the Midwest we think of Rutgers as something of an Ivy League school, even though I think it is really the State University of New Jersey, or what we'd call New Jersey State University. But Rutgers is a much better sounding name. I am impressed with the course they're offering which includes hands-on involvement with projects like the SCARLET KNIGHT robotic vessel |

Self-directed? Gets input at most every six hours? Well, that rules out my government officials. |

I have two nephews at Rutgers and probably a third (brothers) who graduates from HS this year. According to their dad, who writes the checks, the most affordable tuition and closest to Ivy League school from our midwest perspective. Michigan has one thing going for it - lots of good to great schools and affordable compared to many other states; accessible to anyone with motivation. |

I am not trying to put down Rutgers. It is not cheap, however. For tuition, room and board, fees and books (and without spending dough)it will run $27k for instate-ers; it must be more for you guys? |
