I was about to buy a 19 Outrage II from 1994 until we pulled her up in a crane with a weighing clock. It almost went on tilt with 1500 KG / approx. 2700 LBS for the entire set.We were puzzled about the weight of this nice boat. The boat has a 200 Optimax (overpowered), 1 battery, small anchor, 140 LBS of fuel, bimini and some minor small stuff like life jackets, peddel etc. The hull is listed in the cataloge for 1900 LBS, the optimax weighs about 230 KG/ 420 LBS. How to explaine the additional +/- 400 LBS ?? The boat was in the water for 3 Years summer and winter, can this be water, or is the hull more heavy off factory than specified? Appericiate your advice, thanks Jorgen

If thats 3 years total and never out of the water till now ,, yes that very well could be water in the hull |

I think your math is off. 1900+420+140=2460. 2700-2460=240 not 400 Add 40 for the battery, 15-20 for anchor/chain/rode and your down to 185. Dock lines, cushions, cooler, misc. equipment? Is there growth on the bottom? Plus a lift with a "weighing chock"(?) I'm sure has room for error. I wouldn't worry about it. Jeff |

Jorgen - You may be alright - as Spongebob mentioned - but in addition, my catalog (beleive it is a '96 catalog) shows 2200 lbs for the 19 Outrage - and remember, gasoline weighs about 6.28 lbs/gal. I think you are in good shape. ---- Jerry/Idaho |

Thanks for the good input, but the weighing was in KG and maybe i made some mistake in transferring KG to LBS.In KG the boat is listed in the 95 cataloge at 860 KG HULL. The Optimax is 230 KG. It has 1 battery 110 Amp at approx 30 KG. Anchor and led line, 25 KG. Bimini 30 KG.come Oil tank 10 KG. Fuel 75 Liter a 75 KG.s That brings a total in KG of 1260 KG, we weight the boat at the crane with an official weight clock for transportships at 1500 KG accuracy of approx 30 kg The difference is 240 KG, which is same as 240 Liter of water..... Can this really be..... Can you drain out this much water by drilling a vieuw holes in the stern and lift the front high up? Should I buy her or let it be? The hull is not missing any chip at all or has no schratch, just dird from sitting in the water... |

BTW, Jerry, the catalogue you reffered to is indead the 1996. I looked it up on the fantastic CD that Tom Clark and Daniel Miller made. The 1996 model 19 Outrage is what later became the 20 Outrage, and is a differend model than the 19 Outrage II. So, the gab to explaine is still about 240 KG. All input, suggestions are very welcome... |

The weights given in the brochures are estimates, often taken from a prototype. They may not be accurate and are never low. I believe that actual hull weights in fiberglass boats will vary up to 10%. Could his hull be built to commercial specs? If so, that would account for the weight difference. I would not be in a hurry to drill holes into the hull looking for water, UNLESS there is a proven history of hull damage. If you find an area that has been repaired, I would be at least tempted to check that area, but only tempted. Do not forget the little things such as a SS prop, another 20 +/- pounds. |

I think the weights are only estimates. My 18 weighed much more than I thought too. |

I forgot to add, see how the boat sits in the water -- static trim. Go for a ride, and check all the screws, through holes etc for water tight integrity. If the boat was in the water, it should have bottom paint to prevent osmosis. My guess is you don't need to worry at all. |
