I've got three months of work coming up on the east coast and want to know if it's worth towing the 19' Outrage ll the distance. It sure would be great to have it for the weekends but I'm not sure where I could leave it during the week days and if it would be vandalized. Does anyone have a good idea what a traveling man should do? I'll be working around the DC area. Jock |

I say bring it. If you are staying at a motel, they usually have an area under lights that you can park the boat and lock the coupler. Maybe someone can offer parking for you that lives in the area. |

Check with a marina that has a launch facility. Perhaps you could make an arrangement to leave the boat at the marina or boat yard on a trailer when not in use. |

The are many marinas/boatyards that will write a month-to-month contract. Would you want to keep it on the Potomac or closer to the Bay? |

You may wish to consider Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton, VA, about 20 minutes south of DC. I keep my Dauntless there in a locked storage lot, and they have a very nice ramp suitable for 4 (or 6 if you're not an amateur) simultaneous boats. For VA residents, storage and ramp fees are about $250/quarter, making it extremely reasonable. Phone number at Pohick is 703-339-6104. -Bob |

Correction -- it would be $210/quarter for non-residents, see http://www.nvrpa.org/parks/pohickbay/?pg=boatrvstorage.html . |

Thanks for all the input. I'm waiting for the company to reply to my question about driving verses the price of a plane ticket. Hopefully they will just send money and I'll drive with the Outrage. The closest Marina I could find to my jobsite is called Indian Landing Marina at 942 Indian Landing Rd. Millersville Md. Has anyone heard of this place? |

I've don't know anything about that particular marina, but I will say that it has a nice location at the top of the Severn River. There is a small bay nearby for tubing/skiing. After that there is a 6 knot zone and then river gets much wider. Probably 6 or 7 miles to downtown Annapolis by boat. Then another 2 or 3 miles to Bay. |

Since it is not too far I would vote for finding a spot over in Kent Narrows (follow the 301, you'll see it). I stayed there for a week not long ago and it's a real pretty area, with some great crab houses and seafood and partying bars. I don't recall the names of any of the marinas but I don't think you'd have any problems arranging something. Have fun! |

The first place to call is the Columbia Island Marina. 202-347-0173. This would be the closest, best place. Lots of Whalers are wet stored and trailers are stored nearby. You will have a great time. Load up with friends and coast into Georgetown on Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. Take a cruise to Arlington or further. You can water ski just below Memorial bridge. Watch your maps as there are lots of shallow areas on the river. Feel free to contact me when in DC. |
