Gents--A buddy of mine just purchased a [1988 Boston Whaler TEMPTATION 2200]. Is it self bailing? Can you leave the plugs out at rest? How come there is very little info on this boat? Would you consider the [1988 Boston Whaler TEMPTATION 2200] a good boat? Thanks,

Al

You can find information on the 1988 Boston Whaler TEMPTATION 2200 in the REFERENCE section at:

http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/specifications. html#hulls20-22

An owner's manual reproduced at

http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/manual18-25/

will have some useful information about the boat, its self bailing characteristics, and the recommended use of drains and plugs. The static trim on the boat will vary with the weight and distribution of that weight.

The 1988 Boston Whaler TEMPTATION 2200 is a variation of the classic 22-foot hull with a Whaler Drive appendage. A cabin superstructure is added to the standard hull. The characteristics of the hull, its ride, and its handling are similar to other 22-foot hulls with the Whaler Drive appendage.

The 22-foot classic hull with Whaler Drive appendage is an outstanding boat. I have a REVENGE model. We love the boat. I have operated one TEMPTATION. I found its handling was very similar. The windshield of the TEMPTATION is more effective at blocking the wind than the windshield of a REVENGE.

Thanks for you reply Jim..

The owner of this boat leaves all plugs in the boat while it is the water..At the end of the day he covers it .

The cover is from the windshield to the back of the boat & is tight as a drum...no rain water gets inside..I do not think that we will be covering the boat all the time..

On my 19ft Outrage II I leave all the plugs out at all times..

Is there a layout on this boat..

Al, I have a Temptation 2500, the larger, 25' version of the Temptation 2200. Whaler made the Temptation in 3 different sizes (20', 22' & 25') each with virtually identical layouts. The only major change in overall layout comes if you happen to have an I/O version. Most, however, were outfitted with the Whaler-Drive hull bracket. If you like, I could e-mail you some recent pictures of my boat showing the layout.

As far as the self-bailing characteristics, the Temptation would technically be considered a self-bailing hull, although the plugs are best left in and I believe this is what Whaler intended. All Temptation models I have seen contain a 2nd bilge pump in the aft starboard sump drain to remove water. In configuring the stern to accept the seating configuration, the splash-well has been removed.

I am not certain what you are saying. If you are seeking scale drawings of the boat hull and interior showing all details, I am afraid you are going to be disappointed. As you noted the TEMPTATION 2200 is something of a rare model. Considering that there are no scale drawings available for any Boston Whaler boat, even the most popular hulls, it should not be a surprise that there are no scale drawings of the TEMPTATION 2200.

If you were saying something else, please let us know more clearly what you are saying.
