This is a 'quasi non' Whaler content thread but hope of some interest in a well educated boating community such CW.

Somthing I'm kinda happy to share with you all...

I used to crew my friend's Gioppi 470 sailboat for a while back in the 90s, just before I started my FD activity.
Gioppi's father often was out in the water with us giving some support and tips during the training sessions and regattas on his cute 1969 wooden boat, an outboard powerboat hand crafted by one of the last artisan of our town, Albisola, a small fisherman 'Riviera' center 20 miles West the town of Genova.

Gioppi lost his father a few months ago, and he give his boat to me, knowing that I somewhat would appreciate the gift and at least that his Yamaha 40 hp would be a bomb on my 13 footer. Yet the boat wouldn't definitely leave the 'family' ...

It's been an unexpected and pleasant gift, mostly because both the boat and his two engines (she also come with a small 6 hp 2 strokes Evinrude) are in an excellent condition.

A few pics of the old lady that hope you'll find of some interest

Whoa, what a nice gift from your friend. I`m pretty sure that boat is a Glen-L, but I forgot it name. I`ll check it out. Take good care of it and keep in indoors. I would find a vintage 40hp for that boat, and join a AOMCI chapter in your area of Italy.

Here it is. Your boat is the GLEN-L REBEL. Its a 15 footer that I have been wanting to build since I was a teenager.

Here is a link to Glen-L

Take good care of this boat, the old man will be watching from above. It looks like the builder did a fantastic job.

RTM: Good job in identifying the shape as a GLEN-L. I knew I'd seen it years ago but had forgotten the name. Obviously the builder of that boat had considerable talent and took extreme pains to make it come out right.

Tele65: It was a thoughtful gift and deserves all the care you can lavish upon it. I take it from the "FD" reference that you are a firefighter in Italy. Stay low and stay safe.

Thanks for your thoughts White Bear, but FD stands for Flying Dutchman, not an hero, just a quiet Shipping Agent :-)

Rich, thanks a lot for your notice!

Lurking around, I've found the Glen-L site, and a few boats very similar to mine. Yes, it looks like the builder (his name was Dante Bosco, a professional fishing boats builder in Albisola) used the plans for a Rebel 15! She was equipped with a windshield and a rearview mirror for towing a skier. She's in great conditions and really sturdy built, I will arrange a shelter or an indoor storage.

Thanks again for your support!

Fabio,

I hope if I ever get to Italy to check out my ancestors from Palermo, you might give me a ride in your REBEL. My grandparents were born there, so I am told I can get dual citizenship. It may be a good thing to have. LOL
