It seems that Midnight Express is getting some of the business that used to go to Boston Whaler, and are suffering no boating downturn at all.

[See press release below]

All government owned, and most recreational, Midnight Express boats that I have seen are powered by either Mercury Optimax, or Verados, in triple and quad installations, using DTS controls. So these contracts will be good for the people in Fond du Lac also.

Glad to see that our Governments;
Well one of them anyway;
Has deemed worth worthy to start beefing up our Coast Guards personal's numbers.
It is grand time that we see this kind of management responses.
Perhaps;
My side of the border will be following suit.

I just saw one with quad optis launching at the Vilano ramp in St. Augustine on Monday. Had US Customs logo and was hitched to a sweet F650 Ford Crew cab. I've also seen a couple with Homeland Security on the side.

COAST GUARD SIGNS ON WITH MIDNIGHT EXPRESS

The United States Coast Guard has entered into a three year contract with Midnight Express Powerboats to supply the service with a progression of its 39-foot Interceptor models, boats that are already popular with military and law enforcement agencies throughout the world. The contract, coupled with a recent large order from the U.S. Navy provides Midnight Express with an enviable position during the current recession and enables it to expand capacity in its Florida manufacturing facility in Fort Lauderdale.

Midnight Express boats have long been the boat of choice for agencies engaged in drug interdiction and border protection. A recent article in Time Magazine tells how Midnight Express Interceptors are successfully employed by the Border Protection Service in halting illegal aliens from gaining access to California’s southern coastal regions.

Providing law enforcement vessels has long been an important segment of the Midnight Express customer base. The company has shipped its Interceptors to police, military, customs and security units as far away as around the world. As the focus of drug and immigration enforcement becomes more concentrated, the company reports it is currently in negotiation with units in numerous nations. These contracts are gained after a series of demonstration sea trials in which the Midnight Express boats excelled in power, speed, durability and performance. In times when the market for high end recreational boats is being stressed, the ability for Midnight Express to retain its full complement of designers, engineers and skilled workers points the way to a competitive edge and a promising future.

The unique engineering and stunning design of Midnight Express hulls have positioned the company well in the recreational field as the recession winds down. Known for their low drag high efficiency hulls, the company makes a complete line of models in the 39, 37 and 34 foot categories. Built on the pedigree derived from its law enforcement cousins, each model offers recreational boaters the utmost in power, speed, durability and performance.
