i just looked at a 1988 Temptation 2500 that has sat since the year 2000 unused. it has a pair of Johnson 225's (one with a blown head gasket & other, etc.) The good engine has 536 hours and the other 408 hours. overall the boat is in decent shape with minor nicks in the hull. What would be a fair price for this boat? John

Too many unanswered questions to get precise on value. Several things are at work favoring a relatively low value for that boat. First, the Temptation was/is not favored amongst Whaler enthusiasts; second, the engines (both) will require $$$ (significant in the case of the blown one) to be put in serviceable condition and may not be worth the investment. I would be cautious of a pair of engines that have sat so long. Third, without more precise, detailed information on the condition of the boat itself (detailed pictures would help), one is left to assume the worst. Almost all of the Temptations I have come across have abandoned much of the original equipment in favor of inexpensive, aftermarket replacements (upholstery) that detract value as well. Couple all this with a poor market. With no trailer and a lot of assumptions, $5,000 - $10,000. |

A couple of years ago I paid $14000 for a 2200 temptation with an eagle trailer and 2 150 evin. that I had pulled off and put one 225optimax. I get remarks all the time of nobody new that whaler built a boat that looked like that. You will be able to throw a lot of water at the 2500, assuming it has the whaler drive. I would not be afraid of the 2500 with a whaler drive,if in good shape even if the power were shot. Look at what a 23 conquest would cost. $15000? |
