Lanier crowd,

I need some help scoping out Wifi spots on the lake. I believe Gainesville marina has one, but would love to know of any others. I am thinking about working from the Whaler on Friday and maybe going for a swim or dropping a line between conference calls.

Murphy- I bet Holiday Marina, with all of those huge houseboats has Wifi. That would be a good excuse for lunch and a cold one too! You've got it backwards though. You should be taking a conference call in between dropping a line and taking a swim...if you must! Leave that crap at home and go Whalerin!!! -k

Are you going to be on the boat or in the marina with the laptop? Might be easier to dock at Gainesville and go in there. Lake Lanier Islands would have wifi but probably secured unless they have a boat-in restaurant.

If you are in the boat, you could troll the shore for a network (that's high tech fishing right there!) or use a Verizon or Sprint air card.

If you know someone with a lake house who's wifi reaches their dock (or would let you run in the house) they could give you access. If we were at 1068' water level I would have let you use my place.
