I have another boat coming and need to get it a dedicated trailer. My Newport is staying in my fleet and I am adding a Cobalt 210, a deep-V 22-foot overall, 8' 6" beam and roughly 4300 lbs with full fuel, battery and misc. aboard. My primary reason for adding a non-whaler is that I wanted a sterndrive and I tripped accross a bank liquidation of a dealer's new boat floor plan, so the price seemed very, very right.

The trailer will probably be towed [twice] annually about 250 miles each way then promptly returned to full time storage inside a metal building. The boat will be on a lift in a covered dock during its seven month season. [Give me] a recommendations re painted steel, galvanized steel, or aluminum. I suspect that bunks are acceptable.

Your thoughts are welcome.

From your profile I assume the use of this boat will be around Missouri, and thus mainly in fresh water. Painted steel trailers are durable in fresh water. I would opt for galvanized steel or aluminum.

At 4,300-lbs you will need a tandem axle trailer with brakes. Again, in fresh water galvanized drum brakes will be durable. A surge actuator will be fine, particularly since you don't plan to do much towing.
