I just returned with wife and 3 kids from the most gosh-awful vacation experience of my life. But, not the purpose of this post (though I'd be more than happy to discuss my experience with anyone considering such an adventure off-line)

I'd heard that you could rent whalers at the Disney Lake so we marched right on down to the dock on our "Day Off" from the parks. My plans changed immediately when I saw the sign - Boston Whalers $45 for 1/2 hour. I was happy with my decision when later I saw what was mounted on the back of the Montauks over at Disney's downtown - Looked like either a 9.9 or a 15 but I was looking from some distance away. Anyone know for sure?

I'm pretty sure they use 15 Hp Mercury 4 strokes. They have enough problems with all the amateurs on those little mouse boats. They don't need anyone renting a bigger boat and going fast. Those lakes can get pretty nuts.

Just talked to my son. ?he seems to think they use 15s and 25s depending on where you are renting from.

The ones I saw were definately newer Montauks. They had a leaning post instead of a seat and had the little jump seats in the stern.

It probably doesn't matter if they are 9.9's, 15's, or 25's. The boat won't get on plane with any of them.

Someone needs to get some pics of them for the archives! 9.9 on a Montauk. Priceless. But... Bet they don't burn much fuel.

I think it is a good call for Disney, after all, most people who go there have never been in a boat let alone driving one, and the conditions can get crowded. After all, most people just want to do something different in there vacation from the normal life they live.
