I am considering purchasing a 1995 Outrage II 19'. The boat is a freshwater in pretty good condition. I am looking for any insight and cautions regarding the boat, its performance history, and problems. Is the fuel tank metal or plastic? Does it have a history of problems? This model does not appear to have access to the tank should there be a problem. Thanks in advance for any input.

I don't have the 19 Outrage - just a 17 Outrage - but, during a visit to the BW Edgewater facility several years ago, I asked a related question when I noticed a plastic tank being installed in a 13 - 15 footer. Their response - all tanks of 50 gallons or more are metal. That, to me as an engineer, is important as the "sloshing" loads can be substantial - which can be minimized via baffles which can be installed in metal tanks. Your 19 Outrage will have metal tank. --- Jerry/Idaho

I can attest to the fact that it is aluminum, I drew it... And everything else on it.

I have a 1993 Outrage and consider it the perfet boat for me. I can use it for the shallow creeks, rivers and sounds of Northeast NC. It also makes a fine boat for me to take offshore to about 15 miles. 3 to 5 foot seas are the limit for my back but the boat will take more that that. The 60+ gallon belly tank gives me as much fuel as I've ever needed for a full day of fishing with plenty of reserve. I haven't heard of anyone on this site having to replace the tank so why worry about that. Mine has a 150hp Yamaha 2 stroke and is all the power that is needed. I like the taller console and windshield of this model better than the shorter Montauk and Outrage 18's.

I have had that model since new. You can access the fuel level sending unit for the tank from the deck access plate in the floor just aft of the center console. It is that black thing you are standing on if you have the leaning post. If you open it up, You may verify that yes it is aluminum and its capacity is 80 gallons. The tank in this boat is not foamed in and drains either to the forward bilge or out the back through the scuppers. Speaking of scuppers, I had to replace mine this year as the old flapper type had worn out. I replaced them with the ping pong type which work ok but not any better than the flappers. I have 1,600 hours on the original 150-HP [Ocean Pro] with few problems; I did need to [repair] the voltage regulator this year. There is a ton of storage space in this boat compared to the newer models, and I have many newer owners comment on that fact. Do not lose the key to the lockable electronics box, no keysmith that I have ever gone to can find a blank for it. I love the boat and take it out in very rough water in [Lake Michigan] for salmon with regularity, but I also use it in very skinny water in [Grand Traverse Bay] for carp fly fishing and smallies. If there is one thing that I would say is make sure there is not excessive water in hull. There are a million posts on the subject.

Thank you all for your feedback. we boat the Bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. Home port is Green Bay, WI. We also love Northern Lower Michigan, I am writing this from the lake shore of Charlevoix.
