Another gorgeous day offshore ... sailfish releases.

I fished with a friend on his 35' Sportsman CC powered by twin 275 Verados. Boat specs 9'10" beam, 350 gallons fuel, 25 gallons fresh water, assorted fishing gear 100 lbs of ice, 4 souls onboard ... so we came in close to 10500 lbs as we cast off.

Spent 11.4 hours on the water, traveled 191 miles, 148 transit at an average speed of 38.7 mph, the remaining 43 miles varying between 6 - 8.8 mph and burned 135 gallons of gas. That breaks down to about 28.7 gallons per hour at 38 mph and about 2.9 gallons per hour at trolling speed (those burn figures are for both motors).

Just nice to finally get offshore again. We started at an area known as the Scallop Beds that located 74 miles ENE of Top Sail Inlet our point of entry to the Atlantic.

Enjoy .....

Tom

Listen to the sound of silence from those motors...

Why are they mounted so close together? That must be a pretty deep V boat?

Man that looked like a great day on the water.

I've been waiting for weeks to get back on the Pacific Ocean. I haven't been on the ocean since August 5th, the water has not been cooperating very much this year at Bodega Bay, California.

Here's an example of our water conditions.

FRI
NW WINDS 15 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 6 FT.
NW SWELL 7 TO 9 FT AT 11 SECONDS. PATCHY FOG.

FRI NIGHT
NW WINDS 15 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 6 FT.
NW SWELL 7 TO 9 FT. PATCHY FOG.

SAT
NW WINDS 15 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 7 FT.
NW SWELL 7 TO 9 FT. PATCHY FOG.

SUN
NW WINDS 20 TO 30 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 7 FT...DECREASING
TO 3 TO 4 FT. NW SWELL 7 TO 9 FT.

Glad you got a chance to get out on a nice run.
