First big early winter break on the northern and central California coast this weekend. The photo from the linked Press Democrat story is of a location where many locals--including yours truly and other CW members--fish close to the rocks in 12-30 foot depths...not today ;-) http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20091107/ARTICLES/911079968/1033/ NEWS?Title=Be-wary-of-big-waves I was in Santa Cruz a couple of days ago for the start of the Coldwater Surf festival, and the large swell was just beginning to develop at Steamers Lane, with nice smooth overhead waves and the best surfers from all over the world competing. The competition continues through today, and the sights should be awesome. Maybe Andygere or some other CW member down there will get some photos--that place is downright scary when these big Pacific swells roll through. Tony |
