Blew the foot on my tired 70 Yamaha. I found low hour freshwater 70 HP Nissan. Any thoughts on this motor on my 1971 Nauset?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon

I have a customer with a 70hp Tohatsu/Nissan on his 15ft Whaler and it has been extremely dependable. It sits out on a buoy in saltwater all summer long. He bought the rig used in 2000. It gets winterized every year and serviced/checked in the Spring prior to use. It has never required anything other than routine service. Hard to knock it.

Should be a great match for that boat.

The engines are good ones. Reliable and simple.

Nissan is a twin with Tohatsu, as far as I know. Tohatsu seems to have become more aggressive in marketing their brand in North America. Tohatsu is a respected maker of engines. They make a lot of the four-cycle small engines sold by Mercury.
