What is a Banana Outrage? Was there an actual model, or is this some sort of modified tricked out Outrage? Thanks, Tommy |

Any 21'or 19' Outrage or Revenge from 1970 - 1979 can be referred to as a banana hull. http://classicbanana.com/ |

Jeff sums it up well; either the 19 or the 21 foot Outrage or Revenge models were referred to as "banana" models because of the unique hull profile. The 19s ceased production in 1978, the last 21 was produced in 1982. |

Is the link jimh provided the first instance of a Whaler hull being sawn in half? I had no idea it took place at the Dells. |

Tom, 1979 is the last catalog showing the 21 Outrage and Revenge. Also, the 21 is not listed in the price lists in 1980, 81 or 82. Where the 21's special orders or just left over product sold with a newer model after 1979? |

Jeff, The catalogs and price lists do not always tell the whole story, witness the Menemshas made in 1975. To clarify what I reported above: the last Outrage 21 (that I know of) was made in July of 1981 as a 1982 model with the HIN # BWCC9439M82L. |

I realize this post is a bit old, but I came across a 1985 model of this hull. I contacted the owner, and he verified it as a 1985 by the last digits of the HIN. |

I think the only thing the owner verified is that there is something wrong with his HIN. Whaler NEVER made a 1985 model of this hull. What was the entire HIN # he gave you? Unless it starts with BWC he likely has a state or government assigned HIN. Those assigned HINs usually end with the year it was assigned to a hull missing it's / or with out a metal tag (on whalers). |

It's very possible it's a state-assingned HIN. I never received the full HIN, but the seller was convinced it was an authentic 1985 constrution. I didn't pursue it too far as I just closed a deal on a 1975 model. |

That hull was painted and there is no place for a T-top to secure properly on that hull. It would be interesting to see how it was done and if done correctly. Lastly he is dreaming with that price and thinking it is a 1985. |
