I have a Shorelandr [boat trailer] which has been okay, but I would really like to know if there are really high quality trailers available. It seems like they are mostly locally made and are marketed based on price as opposed to quality. Any good suggestions? Thanks |

I have a Phoenix trailer that was custom built for my Whaler. It's a great trailer. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o226/Martha49682/BW1%20trailer/ DSCF0039.jpg I'm in Michigan and do not know how big their dealer network is. Con |

You could do worse than a Shoreland'r. I'd love to find someone on the west coast making good Hugo: what area are you in and what boat are you looking for

I live in Michigan, but am now tranporting my boat to Florida for winter. The Shorelandr did a good job, but the painted finish just does not hold up to travel and the salt air. I made sure that they did not dunk the trailer. |

While in Florida, if you happen to be in or around the greater Tampa area, check out these folks: http://www.loadmastertrailer.com/ Get the stainless steel option, get the Stoltz rollers with Stainless Steel shafts (if you need rollers), get the side mounted spare carrier with packed hub and bearings, and an appropriate spare tire/rim for the mount. My father has a 1997 model year, tandem torsion axle Loadmaster trailer under his 20' Edgewater. They have stood behind their product since day one, and their product withstands the test of time, despite 100% salt-water use. (based on 12 years of ownership) If you cannot visit them, call them and ask them what sets their product apart from every other aluminum trailer on the market. |

Also check out Boatmaster in Fort Myers, Florida. I believe they still make trailers for Brunswick Commercial & Government Products, Inc, so if there is only one "Boston Whaler of Boat Trailers", these guys are it. |

I agree that BoatMaster makes a fine trailer for Boston Whalers and the quality of the trailers matches the quality of our boats. I have one of their Competitor Series which I've now used for about eleven years in salt water with minimal issues. It was necessary to replace the wheel studs at about seven years and the lights were replaced with LEDs a few years ago. The studs would probably not have needed replacement if I had not stripped one when removing the wheels for tire replacement. An overnight soak with PB Blaster or similar would have loosened them up, I'm sure. Having damaged a couple I just replaced them all while I was at it. The wheel bearings are repacked periodically and Bearing Buddys are installed. I change the brake fluid every few years when I think about it. The fluid should probably be changed every year.... but??? Disk brakes are installed as well as a torsion axle. Butch |

Shoreland'r makes galvanized trailers.

"Shoreland'r makes galvanized trailers." Very nice ones in fact. I just bought one for a classic Outrage 18 this past fall. Pretty beefy trailer. It's a single axle and handles the boat's size/weight with ease. The galvanized finish is nice and looks like it will last a long time if taken care of. I like Shoreland'r trailers, but there are many other nice trailers out there as well. Many of them are hard to get in my neck of the woods though. My uncle's Outrage 21 has a Continental galvanized trailer under it which also appears to be well built. - Chris |

Pacific makes a fantastic galvie trailer, and I've seen lots of these give good service and last a long time. Like a lot of guys, I've always been curious about aluminum trailers, but you don't see too many along the West Coast. I have seen a few from a company that I think is in Ventura, and they seem very high quality. [Domain Squatter URL deleted] . I think they're all custom and I seem to see them under some of the biggest, trickest Radons. |

You sure about that [now deleted] address? It goes to a place holder at goDaddy that links to some former football player's site.

Since your in Michigan, checkout the Eagle brand. Galvanized all sizes. I picked mine up at the factory in Southgate. Don |

As a west coast boater I have owned Shorelander, Trailrite, Pacific and now ABTrailers. I am a firm believer in aluminum torsion axle trailers. ABT makes the best, imho. [urlhttp://momentoffame.com/photopost/data/517/medium/v6.jpg[/url] http://momentoffame.com/photopost/data/517/medium/v3.jpg |

Venture trailers IMHO-suck |

My 1995 Outrage 21 came with a two-axle Loadmaster trailer when I bought it four years ago. Apart from routine maintenance, I haven't had any issues with the trailer. Then again, the boat is in the water most of the year so I don't use the trailer heavily (really only for annual maintenance). |
