Poor bastard. The guy needs a bigger boat ;-) |

Looks pretty cool! The craftmanship, too, looks quite well done. I especially like the tilt forward feature. I personally prefer a bimini on a 17, but this is nice. Wonder how much wind it catches, and how heavy it is. I had a similar top (but lighter style) on an 18 I once owned, and it was fine except it tended to pull loose from the floor and required maintenance to keep it secured....one issue when weight in the form of a lever is considered on any boat. Thanks for posting! Mav |

It looks purpose-built, but visually over-done. Without the pilot house top, the console is reminiscent of a Nauset. Probably good protection for heavy weather. |

Hoosier is correct: $22k I would say priced a tad high. Good thinking on the engineering... |

I like it!(except for the Sitex mount) it looks like a nice fishing machine for the waters around San Francisco. |

I like it as well, but wonder about the wind it catches. I think that the craftsmanship made a new Whaler look a bit more old school. |

He was smart to keep the original console, new owner can have his choice of setups. Why don't people clean up their boats before photos? Then again, the garage is a disaster. |

The owner went through all of that, but wouldn't drill a transom though hole for his transducer cable? |

I'm sure this modification made sense for the owner, although I think it would look better on a classic Whaler. I wish Whaler made boats that offered better protection from the elements. Besides the 345 Conquest, they offer no pilothouse boats (and no Alaskan bulkhead on the 345), and I doubt if I'll own another boat for the PNW that doesn't have a pilothouse. |

This is a deal at $$$ less than a new one with similar equipment. Looks like it is a great working boat that will keep the operator comfortable in the great Pacific Ocean and SF Bay. Someone will appreciate this set up. |

Overall, it doesn't look too bad to me. Looks functional, reasonably well built and he didn't cut up the boat or add a bunch of holes. Even the shape of the pilot house looks pretty decent to my eye. For weather like we had on the ocean this weekend, that kind of weather protection makes a world of difference. I wonder how tight a squeeze it is to get around the console. |
