I finally got to go out in the bay to chase Salmon on Fri. What a beautiful day, flat calm..My son and brother and his son, a really great time..and we even brought home salmon! Not much but we weren't skunked first time out, blood on the deck! We were out early,6ish..and there weren't too many guys launching at Moss so getting out was not traumatic....The amazing thing was how many classic Montauks there were launching out'a Moss I saw about 8 not counting my 170, although I really didn't keep close count. No doubt about it the classic Montauk is certainly the # 1 choice down here. More Montauks than any other single brand! And with all manner of fishing set-ups from the really cool to the "you did what " to that poor boat! It was like a Whaler armada, which considering it was Friday and technically a work day tells us something about guys with Montauks;)....Fishing has slowed down, a lot. But with the news about having a Season until Sept. there is still time...See ya on the bay.. Joe

Joe, good report, glad to hear you found some fish. I agree, there always seem to be a lot of Montauks around, it's rare that I don't see at least one out there. Weather looked good yesterday, must have made for some pleasant fishing.Mark, Bayside Marine is Santa Cruz is reporting that the season has been extended. I haven't checked the DFG site yet. http://www.baysidemarinesc.com/ |
