I am a huge fan of this Whaler forum and have gained great knowledge, and communicated with great folks whilst surfing the site. I have occasionally noticed, however, the odd mention and even link to similar sites for other manufacturers.

So at the risk of having a thread deleted, I most respectfully enquire whether any Whaler fans might 'slum' on other Manufacturer 'fan'sites, specifically Edgewater. Is anyone aware of a similar edgewater fan site?

I have found an early 90's 17' EW runabout that needs power and I can't find info on what the power specs are for that model and approx year.

It is my sincere hope that the similarities between the two boat lines combined with the fact that EW was spawned with a former Whaler Exec migth save this thread..

With thanks,

Stuar

I don't think there is a dedicated forum for Edgewater. Your best bet will probably be thehulltruth.com

Best of luck.

I have a 1995 Edgewater 170cc. It is a great little boat and there is a lot of information on this site about it -- in fact, far more information than I have found any where else on Edgewaters (Marlins) of this vintage.

Edgewater does have a similar site. You can find it at:
http://ewboats.ning.com/

That said, it is much more of a fledgling enterprise and not nearly as robust as this site. It is also owned / operated by the company itself, so take that for what it is worth.

My apologies to JimH if this is poor form. Please delete my response as needed. At least I’m not talking politics...

Some of the projects going on there are an education, and there are some true pro's that hang out there and contribute.

Some good information in their forums on fixing stuff (this sub-forum is supported by the folks at WEST epoxy and their reps make regular appearances to offer advice).

GBayWhaler:

I pulled the following from an old catalog someone was willing to give me a file of. If you care for a copy, shot me an email and I will send you the file. Please note, I some of this information seems to have been updated in later years. My notes for this appear in parenthesis next to the specs in the catalog

Length: 16’6” (I believe this may have been a typo as I believe the 170cc is 16’8”)
Beam: 6’8”
Draft: 12”
Weight: 1,200lbs
Capacity: 1,300lbs
Persons: 6 (the plate in my boat says 7)
Transom: 20”
HP Max: 100 (later moved to 115)
Fuel: 41 gal

I spend a fair bit of time at www.c-brats.com, a forum for C-Dory owners. That forum is more regionally focused on the PNW where I love and devoted to C-Dory boats, of which I own one in addition to the Whaler. A good owners forum is a real asset to owners. Thanks for this one Jim!

I consider Edgewater Boats to be sisters to Boston Whaler. We have had many threads on boats made by Edgewater Boats.

As well as owning a Boston Whaler, I also own an Owens Sea Skiff. There was an attempt at starting a website for the Owens marque with a lot of initial enthusiasm, however the site owner discovered that the amount of time involved was just too much and the site has unfortunately come to a standstill.
Full marks must go to Jimh for this excellent resource.
