Took my Nauset out with three guys Saturday for salmon rockfish and halibut.

Got one 20# chromer in the first ten minutes of the day and that was it. Fished rocks for a while, some halibut, but the salmon was the highlight. First ocean caught salmon on the boat.

Ran back north to Bodega about 15 miles, two guys up front, two on the RPS ran 25-29 in swell, simply loved the trip.

Man I love this boat.

Ran into a guy at the washdown with a outrage 19, said he had an exact copy of mine before he got his current one.

I got a chance to get out on Bodega Bay yesterday after a month of bad water conditions.

I ran solo in my 170 Montauk as far north as Del Mar Landing State Marine Reserve in search of new rock cod fishing spots. ALL of my best fishing spots are now State Marine Reserves, Stewarts Point, Del Mar Landing, Salt Point.

The fishing wasn't great but it sure was nice to be on the water. I saw a few whales spouting on my 85 mile round trip.

I left my house a 3:30 am and got home at 7 pm.

I'm ready to do it again next weekend. :-)

I'll keep my eye out too, Mr. T. Give a shout on channel 9 next time you're out in Blowdega Bay. I was out Friday with one of my boat partners (Matt/placerville; Warren/WT couldn't make it 'til yesterday) in our ancient Revenge prototype, 'Strike3'. We didn't do very well for salmon. Deckhanded in my pal's 6-Pak for rockfish with three customers on Saturday...limits of small ones before noon. Out solo today in my Montauk for salmon...nada (actually, one ling cod which hit my watermelon Apex lure while I was dragging it near the bottom down by Bird Rock).

Great weather at last, but I'd die for a nice 20-pounder like yours, Mr. T. Call or email me before you go out next time and teach me some new tricks, please.

Will do guys, don't hit the bodega area all that much but have a cabin we rent in town that Momma says we are gonna be at for a about week next month. The boat is certainly coming along.

I got addicted to Bodega Bay after my first time out. Boating in a small 17 foot Whaler in the ocean can be exhilarating. I actually like my long runs up the coast more than the fishing.

You might want to run up to Fort Ross (about 20 miles north from the ramp) for some rock cod fishing when you are out next month.

Keep us posted when you come out.

I'm going out again tomorrow. Weather looks great, and okay for Friday, but it's going to come up again beginning Saturday (NDBC/NOAA forecast is for 20-30 kts Sat-Mon).
Better get out there quick, guys!
