Hey there, was hoping for some input on the kicker bracket [that another paticipant, Tony,] on [a Boston Whaler] 15-footer. It was the narrower aluminum model if I am not mistaken. I remember [Tony] some photos of it with the little Honda kicker. How does that bracket hold up to saltwater, vibration, and kicker weight? Both Panther and Garelick make identical ones and both have disclaimers against using in saltwater and against using them for [heavier four-cycle engines]. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I would recommend against using the narrow aluminum engine bracket.
(example: the "Fulton" model MB10500134)
The aluminum supporting arms are too close together and they do not offer adequate support!

I placed a 5 hp Honda kicker motor on one of these engine brackets.
In moderate seas the engine was swinging so wildly from side to side that I was forced to wrap my dock line around the motor and secure it to the stern cleat to keep it from falling off the bracket.

I found that the "Garelick" outboard motor brackets, with their wider stance, remained stable even in the worst sea conditions.

I think Tony left for Montana last Wednesday and will return next week. He might not have internet service.
