The sky cleared on Friday afternoon so I headed out to Sucia. It's about an hour run that was fun, but my Lowrance LMS 335 CDF went ballistic so I broke out the chart. My how quickly we get spoiled with a GPS.

My neighbor in Fox Cove all socked in on Saturday morning.

My "not much better than a toy" tender sprung a leak. Duct tape and I used it anyhow.

My water logged home. Actually I stayed pretty dry with 27 year old canvas.

Sucia is a boaters paradise, some new campsites with amenities were new from my last trip. For kayakers where packing a tent is difficult.

Wheel chair access camp site.

Very typical of boats common to the PNW. A couple of Nordic Tugs, that are not being made anymore, an old Tolly, Grand Banks, sailboats. Man, look at the fog and I should go back in today and the GPS is toast.

Why do you want busy, smelly, loud dock space when you can sit on a buoy?

The fog is lifting, the rain has stopped, I have seen this beauty before.

Sunshine, yippee!

Pudgy looking thing. The motor is in it's dual purpose boarding ladder assist mode.

The ride in was glass, this island is for sale.

Then the weather changed again, Mt. Baker and since my return, we have had more rain.

John,

I think the fantail yacht in your photo

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF8394.jpg

is the Thea Foss

http://classicyacht.org/aboutclassics/images/TheaFoss_LkUnion_b.jpg

120', Ted Geary designed, built in 1930, Long Beach Ca. Now owned by Foss Tug and Barge.

Looks like Sunday afternoon made the whole trip worthwhile.

Makes me homesick for PNW. Thanks for posting the photos. As we approach winter in West Michigan....never mind.

Thanks for the comments. That's the boat, the Thea Foss. I took a bunch of pictures when she was on the dock at Roche.

The weather was warm but wet. My "cabin" stayed dry, now that I have sealed the "access to the bow" hatch shut. The Taylor made windshield leaks like crazy just sitting there and it leaks like crazy when you are running also. The water runs into the locker under the helm and gets stuff in there wet.

The rear "live bait locker" was 1/2 full of water because I had to move my rubber backed carpet off of it to put up all the canvas. There are many things I can do to this boat to make it more camping friendly.

My wish list has grown from new and more seats with storage to include a new canvas set up, a new tender, and some sort of 12 volt overhead lighting in the cockpit/kitchen/dining and living room area. A working GPS/Sonar is on the top of the list now.

John, thanks for sharing the pictures and the narrative. Fall weather down here in the Southeast is just when I began to think again about boat camping. Appreciate the inspiration!

Careful John, I started out trying to figure out ways to make the Whaler more comfortable for boat camping and ended up with a whole new boat.

Two children in college, or I would snap up one of the 2 gph, 34 to 38 foot Trawlers that are on the market right now. Then I would rig the Sport 15 to be carried or towed and sell the Revenge to my fishing buddy.

While I am waiting for the money meter to slow down, the Revenge has to multifunction.

The weather is nice today, but my business partner is going to be gone. Life is cruel at times.
