Can anyone here tell what date this indicates? "02838".
This is stenciled on the interior part of the transom. The boat is a Boston Whaler Squall with blue interior.

I will call Chuck at Whaler in the [time before the sun passes my meridian] if no one chimes in.

Stenciled Numbers do not encode any data, date or otherwise.

Blue hulled Squalls did not have HINs, which do have the manufacturing month and year encoded.

02838 is a 1967 Squall.
02701 through 03425 Squall is 1967 model year.

Thanks. Just bought it for very short money. It's in terrible shape. Large sections of delamination on bottom of hull. Bow is beat up and keel torn off. The sliding centerboard works! Gunnels have hole drilled through. Just yanked the through hull drain and some foam is wet.

Long term project. It does not weigh that much , which is a surprise. Easily lifted on to trailer.

Hey Jim,
I have read your Squalls story. Mine is in about the same shape. I do think the wet foam is only in a few spots on mine after inspecting it and the weight.
