Heres a old video of Ted Ericksons swim in 1967 from the Farallon Islands off San Francisco Ca to the main land. Its about 28 miles. Its the great white shark's breeding area. The Whaler looks like a 16 ft with the old wood "piano console and seat". Whalers have escorted many swimmers over the years and I see them at the Great Cheaspeake Bay Swim.

Thanks for posting that. I never knew someone swam that, It is one heck of an accomplishment. I have had people tell me I was crazy for taking the Montauk to the Faralons. So Ted Erikson that is a name to remember.

The whaler had a Homelite engine too.

Wow. And I thought the swimmers in the 7.5 mile Potomac River Swim were nutty.
