So, did anyone get any Whaler/Boating related Christmas Gifts this year? I got a Magma Gas Grill. The 17" Grill, Stove, Oven combination. I became interested in one after the Isle Royale trip last summer. We carried along charcoal on the trip and it turned out that none of the dock/camp sites we stayed at had the charcoal grills available. John Raby came to the rescue with his Magma gas grill & I was sold. Looking forward to using it. Pat |

A special lady gave me a Lowrance HDS-8 with "Insight USA" to replace the aging and complicated Global Map 2000 installation on my 25 Outrage, currently in FL for the Winter. I'm looking forward to a much cleaner setup and COLOR! Went out and found it on her own, without ever asking me or my son what I wanted, or what would work on the Whaler. A complete surprise. |

The Man in Red left a Garmin GPSMAP 441s under our tree. Been hoping for him to drop one off for the past few years. Less than a quarter of a year until spring. |

I told my secret Santa that I needed a new flashlight, and that I preferred the MAGLITE brand. I got a rather large MAGLITE three-D-Cell flashlight. Larry--You will really enjoy the Lowrance HDS-8. I put one on my boat last summer. It is a wonderful machine for echo sounding and chart plotting. |

Jim - I remebered that you had done an article on your installation, which I did not read at the time, but I went back and found it. Excellent article and information, although my installation will not be quite as sophisticated, since I have no application or other devices for a network. But I'm looking forward to getting all that maze of external sonar modules and chart reader out of the console, and GPS receivers off of the radar arch. But I've got to say the old Lowrance Global Map 2000 system worked flawlessly for 12 years for it's 2K cost back then. It served me well. Only the DGPS module quit working. |

The big guy left me a stereo system and speakers so my guests don't have to listen to "old-guy radio" from my Ipod! I also got a waterproof pouch. I guess I have to "retire" my zip-lock bag now... I won't be so tacky in 2011 while boating and fishing! |

....(but the stereo does have a jack to plug in the Ipod when I am by myself!!!) |

Made out big!! My oldest daughter went out and did the research and picked out a Hummingbird 788ci. I definitely need a new depth finder, but never thought about a chartplotter and in color no less!! The nice thing is that Hummingbird is upgrading the transducer from two cone to the four cone at no extra charge. Side scan really was never considered. Got the Whaler tee shirt and a logo'd pen lite as well. Best to all this next year! |

I got a Ginsu Bagel Cutter. I think it's vintage. Might fit in the dry box. Does that count? |

I got a Suzuki Trim guage for the re-rigging that is in process for my 19 Outrage and the 115 Suzuki that I picked up. Also got a 94qt Igloo Marine Cooler, it must be a more recent model as it has Stainless Steel latches for the top, I hadnt seen those before. I hinted at needing cushions for the RPS and Cooler, but I guess I may have to get those myself..ho ho ho. |

Only, Glad you also got on that tip. I still have people contacting me as recently as to 2 weeks ago to ask if I have any bags left over. Pat, I think the real Whaler Christmas gift will come for some funds I got over the holidays. |

I got a nice, new GPS for my truck...now I don't need to mapquest anything, anymore...although reading a map, along with other things, like a clock(analog), is a skill that is quickly vanishing from our kids. Now I never have to ask for directions again...oh, that's right, I'm male, that's one of the things we just don't do. ;) |
