I just purchased a Rule 500GPH pump. The pump did not have the stainless steel metal screen that sits in the blue intake cover. Has Rule stopped including the screen? This pump is made in Mexico. The previous pumps I bought were made in the US before all manufacturing went to Mexico. All had screens.

The one I bought a few years ago also did not have the SS Screen.

Thanks, sounds like cost cutting.

Yeah - I don't know if it means there are two different versions of the pump now, or if it's cost cutting....I used some nylon screen from an old window screen...works fairly well and doesn't rust....but it does clog more easily as the mesh is finer..but it keeps bits of fishing line out of the pump, and that is good!

Different styles of pumps, you can get them with the screen or not. The problem is Rule makes so many different style pumps and with different GPH its hard for a vendor to keep them all in stock... If you really want one do a search on ebay you can probably fine the one you are looking for...good luck

I put a Rule 4200gph pump in my 280 Conquest last spring. No stainless screen was supplied.

Dear Rule Bilge Pump Company quality control Supervisors:

I own 5 sport boats and have good service from Rule pumps for many years. From this time forward, I will not purchase a Rule pump that does not include a intake suction screen IN THE BOX.

I received two directly from Rule as replacements about 2 years ago and they included the screens. Do not remember the country of origin. Maybe they forgot to tell those guys in Mexico what those pieces were to be used for or ran short for a shift or two.

You should be able to contact their technical service folks, get an answer and the missing parts if that is the case. They took good care of me.

Either way a 500 GPM pump is not doing anyone any good, except you. Piece of mind, that's it. Not much of that, IMHO.

I can bail faster than a 500 GPM pump.

Anty up and get at least a 1000.
