The Largest Public Boating Facility along the Coast of North Carolina, the recently constructed Emerald Isle, NC, Boat Ramp will hold it's Grand Opening on Friday 15 April 2011 at 11 am. The ramp is located just off NC State Hwy 58 in between Mile Markers 17.5 and 18. It has four (4) ramps and parking spaces for 112 vehicles w/trailers (making it the largest facility along the coast of NC). Facility will be open 24/7. Right now it is FREE to use - however E.I. did just institute a $10 weekend beach access parking fee (that includes residents), and are still hunting all forms of sources for income, so who knows how long... [cryptic, evil laughter heard in background] There is a marked channel to the ICW which allows full access to the Atlantic via Bogue Inlet. The town's Nov 2008 pdf presentation proposal can be found here: http://www.emeraldisle-nc.org/pdfs/BoatramppresentationNov20.pdf Due to the aerial photography used, this will give you a little background and overview of ramp location and waterway access for the other existing boating facilities in the area as well. Hope that this will be useful to those that may be thinking to visit the region with their Whalers - Max - |

The facility also has 18 "vehicle only" spaces to accomodate parking for those arriving without trailers in tow. |
