Hello fellow Boston Whaler owners…I have been waiting to say those words for more years than I care to count. I recently bought a Dauntless 14, ’99 hull with a 2011 ETEC 60 with 20 hours on it; now all I have to do is get it from Minnesota to the Silicon Valley. While I like the classic Whalers I have always gravitated to the Dauntless style, and when I found one in beautiful shape with new power I had to get it. I had thought of a 16 frankly, but the 14 should be about perfect for a first time boat owner like me. Davej14 from this forum helped me with excellent information on the D14, and he has let me know there are other D14 owners here. I appreciate any advice from anyone, and am looking forward to learning a lot here. Also, if anyone knows of a good boat hauler please let me know. Cheers, Jim

Welcome and congratulations!
I own a similar (first) boat - a '95 Dauntless 15 with a 50 Honda.
Its easily towable(I pull mine with a '93 Camry V6), can be parked in a garage, and capable of handling mild ocean weather on short offshore trips. It's also a pretty good water sports boat.
How big is the gas tank? Does the 14 have a built in one?

Any pictures?

Have you looked into UShip? Another member here turned me on to them. I have't used them yet but set up an account to be able to move quickly when I find the right boat.

Thanks for the welcome. It does have a built in 25 gallon tank. If a guy I am hoping is able to haul it falls through I am going to check out U-ship. If anyone has experience with them it would be great to hear about it. Soon as I figure out picture posting here I'll get some up.

Welcome Jazman! Check out the rendezvous listing for our meet in Bodega Bay next month. It's a great way to learn about Whaler's and connect with other owners + have a reat time!

Welcome aboard. I have a 1999 Dauntless 14 with a 2000 Merc 75 2 stroke on a Shoreland'r trailer. A picture is worth a thousand words. Be sure to look at all pages of each album.

Thanks solongdarling for the thought, but I won't be ready for ocean boating for a while. I'll be more of a fresh water guy, we have a place in South Tahoe so that area is going to be our first/main place to float.
Great pictures and information Fishgutz, Davej14 mentioned you had a D14 and I would be seeing you on this forum. Thanks for posting all of the links, the more I see pictures like this the more I am looking forward to getting my boat here and into some water. Jim
