Didn't know whether to post this is the marketplace or not (not affiliated) but was wondering what model this was. He says its a 1974 but have never seen an interior like this before. Its pretty cool! http://www.2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/showthread.php?t=340367 |

It's 16'-7" not 17'-6" That is the nicest Tashmoo I have ever seen. |

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1969-Boston-Whaler-TASHMOO-96924051 This one is not a 1969; the Tashmoo model was not introduced until 1972. |

Tom- The seller states it " is considered an 18 foot but is really 17'6" I agree, really nice condition. I wonder if its original or beautifully reconditioned. When he first posted it for sale a while ago I remember him saying it was a commercial hull. Did they make a commercial spec version of a recreational hull back then? |

The seller is in error. |

Technically, yes, but it was possible in 1974 to order your new Whaler built to "Workboat Specifications" which meant extra 'glass and resin in the hull layup. I do not see a red dot would indicate this is one of those hulls. |

Sweet boat. The "reduced" price seemed ambitious... I couldn't resist looking up the original asking price: $13,900! |

It looks like a bass boat model to me,it does not have the low bow rail that a tashmoo has. |

Oh, good catch, you're right. It is a Bass Boat model, not a Tashmoo. |

Were these Bass Boat Models (16'7") come in that color or is it a repaint/gel-coat I have a 1975 and it is light tan. However it is a very clean boat and looks user friendly...Nice find |

Saying it was for certain a Bass Boat would be just as wrong as saying it was truly a Tashmoo. It was one of the two at one time though. Both the Bass Boat and Tashmoo used the exact same one piece gunwale, forward deck and aft deck interior molds with the same console. Since the boat has been refinished / painted (the missing stencil is the stern is a give-away) it seems any evidence of Bass Boat forward and aft mounted pedestal seats and also any evidence of a Tashmoo forward railing are long gone giving prove positive to one model or the other. Nicely done boat none the less. I know a guy here in Michigan with two perfect 9.5-10 Tashmoos. Neat boats. |

Jeff your right, The boat had to have been refinished to either hide the bow rail holes or hide the pedistal seats. Is that the only difference between the two models? What years were each models made? I have always liked the way the tashmoo was set up but have never seen either model in person although I worked at Boston Whaler later on after these models were made. Nice boat . I want one. |

Jeff makes a good case. But in its current configuration this boat is closer to the Bass Boat model than the Tashmoo model. The Tashmoo had a low profile bow rail with a PlexiGlas windshield (the predecessor of the Newport) and a full width upholstered stern seat. The Bass Boat had no bow rail and no full width stern seat but had a pedestal seat on the bow platform and another on the stern platform. The Bass Boat model was produced from 1972 to 1976 while the Tashmoo seems to have only been produced around 1973. The odds are that this boat started life as a Bass Boat. |

I check our Texas 2Cool site for boat ads almost weekly. When I saw this ad, I thought it was just an unsmirked hull that someone had redone. Didn't think about the cap as being original and part of a unique model. Are those hinges at the front base of the console? |
