Looking to order a set of registration numbers for my 170 Montauk. Does any one know the type of font used that matches the Whaler logo? Or a suggestion of a good outfit to order them from. |

The Boston Whaler logo font looks like Futura bold or extra bold oblique to me. |

Janis at Magic Brush did my reg numbers, boat name, etc all in the same font as Whaler as well as in Whaler Red. And did a very nice job I might add Pat |

Best is to work with Janice at Magic Brush, she is awesome and OEM for Whaler. We have got to know her and she is great to work with. I assure you, the font is not Futura and you won't find it in any pro collection of fonts and type face designs. Support our DEDICATED suppliers - every one of them I have met or done business with will go the extra mile for any one of us. |

I did my registration numbers in Bold Helvetica Italic. I found it through a search on this website. |

You may, of course do as you please, but I've seen a "Marine Deputy" standing on a ramp telling people that "if you put that boat in the water with those numbers, you've got a ticket".... http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr& sid=608bb5f2ff1c5c411a9065ef99e45d27&rgn=div8&view=text&node=33:2.0.1.8. 39.2.209.9&idno=33 |

And having very visible numbers in a color that contrasts your hull with a tad of a slant is illegal how? I don't think he was telling people about the numbers we are talking about. Here is a pic of mine from Janis. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/BiggieFL/1981-13Whaler/regs.jpg |

As long as the registration numbers are in a contrasting color and are at least 3" high, they are allowed. Italicized numbers like Nick's are NOT legal...but who cares? |
