  What is up with the Whaler search e-mails I keep receiving?

Author Topic:   What is up with the Whaler search e-mails I keep receiving?

I keep getting about 15 e-mails a day from people I don't know and the subject is always the same. Something about JRofhling's(sp?) Whaler search site or ?? I know he is a member here but something must have corrupted his e-mails because I get 5 identicals in a row from the same person. I have NOT opened any of these e-mails as I mainly use my work computer and can not risk a virus or worm. If this is legit then change the subject line to 'Hey Nick...blah blah blah" or whatever but don't cut and paste or forward me ANYTHING because I will not read it. If this is NOT legit then why has NOBODY informed this site of a possible hazard stemming from CW members?

Sorry. I updated the Boston Whaler Search Site I have on facebook groups and for some reason now Facebook is pushing out emails everytime someone posts anything. It is driving me crazy because I have turned that setting off and it is still happening. I am just going to have to close the group and reopen a fan page. That was Facebook's only solution...Sorry.

If you log-on to Facebook and then go to the Rohlfing's Boston Whaler Search Site page, there should be a button at the top of the page which says "Edit Settings". If you click on that, a pop-up box should appear. In that box, uncheck the box in front of "Email Notifications to:" That should stop all of the emails.

Nick -- You just uncheck the email option for Jeff's group in your facebook preferences.

To all,
Last week Facebook archived my old group page as it was still using the old format. At that time I had to update to their new format. After I did this update, it seems that Facebook reset all of the members notifications at that time. Since this update members have reported receiving excessive emails from the Facebook anytime something gets posted here. I am very sorry for this and have tried to right things through the notification settings here for the group. This did not stop the emails and Facebook has been less than helpful on resolving this. Upon investigating, the best and only way to clean up the Facebook group site may be to migrate to a "FAN" page. This would be a pain for everyone and content would not carry over but it may just be what I end up doing...
In the meantime, if you do not wish to continue receiving emails please follow the attached link for a simple step by step on how you can turn this email settings off.

While I joined to see Buckda's photos, I am ditching it.
Between the infected apps generated emails and the unsolicited Facebook emails, I have had enough.

Nope, no Facebook for me, even though most of my family (not my good wife, thank Jobs) has been sucked in. CW forever, an interactive chess site or two, Westlaw and Nexis/Lexis 'cuz I gotta for my work, Photobucket to post photos, and that's IT for me with this nonsense.
