The rod tamer straps on my 2000 Dauntless have broken and need to be replaced. I have found a number of sites that sell the strap and hardware for about $5 a piece. Ideally, I would like to purchase a small roll of the black polyurethane "rope" which should be less than the $20 needed to purchase 4 new straps with hardware. Does anyone know of an outlet that sells this?

I don't know of a bulk supplier. My local Bass Pro Shop sells the tamers in a couple of lengths with all needed hardware.
In 11 years of ownership of my 1999 Dauntless I had to replace the tamers only once. Since two had failed I elected to replace all four to avoid another trip or two to the store.
The economics of buying a roll and replacing the old "rubber" while reusing old hardware may sound attractive. But with life spans of tamers approaching seven years in my case it did not make sense. When I sold my Dauntless after 11 years of ownership the replacement set was doing well. You'd have to keep a boat a good long time to use up a roll of tamer material.
I'm pretty disciplined when it comes to keeping my boats covered which may have contributed to a fairly long life from my tamers. I did not use 303 on them which may have extended their usable life.

Do you remember what the item number was or description from Bass Pro was for their rod tamers?
I'm in the same boat as cworthy for replacements, I tried the cheap-o bungee cords from the local hardware store but they stink.

Sorry, but I didn't notice.
Have you tried a search on BPS web site/catalog? I remember seeing two sizes in the store and that they were in the marine products area as opposed to the fishing tackle area.
Otherwise a google search for "rod tamer" should produce some on-line sources.
