Hi. We need to make a copy of the boat key and the storage key for our Ventura 210. The reason why is that we are sending the original keys to our freight forwarder and want to retain a copy in case they get lost in the mail. What is the easiest way to copy the boat keys? Thanks

The dealer or a dealer that sells the same type of engine that is on your whaler. You can get copies from them, Take them your old keys and just in case have the serial number of the engine controls and key switch. Send the copies to the freight people, keep your originals...

Thanks. Contacted our local BW dealer (Russo Marine), so we will see what they say.

Where's the boat going that the shipper needs the keys?

What kind of key?

I just had some spares made at Ace Hardware for $1 a piece.

I only had one key for my Johnson outboard. The key was encased in a rubber OMC guard. I simply slit one half of the guard, pulled the key out and had it duplicated. Once done, I reinserted the old key and super glued it back together. You cannot tell it was ever opened up.

Since then, I found some old keys, with OMC rubber guards, from a boat scrapyard and did the same trick to the rubber guards.

I now have three keys that all look and function as OEM.

Total investment, about $6.00 and 20 minutes.
