We have a 25 Revenge and are looking into having our boat in dry dock storage in the Florida Keys. I am from Wisconsin and wouild keep the boat down there so we can do more fishing trips in the future. It would be much more convenient to fly down and have the boat and fishing gear down there already. We don't mind the drive, but the wear and tear on the vehicles and boats and time off work for drive time all play into factor; also I could probably do more trips if the boat were already down there. Right now I almost have to do a two-week trip to make it worthwhile if we drive down. If the boat were there already I could even do a trip like four days even. From what I have read on-line, boat storage is at a premium down there. Some places can be pricey per month. The Boat House in Marathon, Floirda has dry slips you can purchase, but the investment is still pricey. They store your boat in a large shed and need about a 12-hour notice to get your boat in the water for you. Sounds like a good deal but the price is what concerns me. Bud-N-Mary's in Islamorada charges $12-poer-foot which equals $300 month for our boat. They have a three month minimum and that is $900; a grand total of $3,600 for one year. Looking for options and connections. Would also possibly consider the East coast or the Gulf of Mexico area.

The price is per foot is about right for south Florida, I have always thought owing a slip or dry stack would be a good investment, but that was in the good times, but who knows how the rich in South Florida will react to boating needs.
I live in the big bend area of Florida, the dry storage rack is about $ 8-9 dollars a foot, around here, my neightbor just bough Cedar Key Marina, they were always a little cheaper than Homassassa or Crystal river I keep my boat at Riverhavem marina in Hommassassa last year, it was around $130 a month for my 18 Dauntless. The Homassassa river can be a PITA to run at times, and colder weather in the winter, and mostly bottom fishing and flats fishing, well this is the whole area. Fishing is always better in the Keys.
We are also a hour and a half or more from a Major air port, If you fly there are small airports around and one in Cedar Key.

I would run an ad in the local newspaper down there and state what you want to do, there are a lot of houses down there that would rent you space on their lot...

Around Sarasota area it is much cheaper...under $200/mo for your boat. Same would go for a lift in someone's backyard canal.

Probably any area in Florida outside of the Keys would cost less to store your boat.

You might consider other ways to do this, the storage places you mentioned are indoor or outdoor and located on the water and thus more expensive. However there are storage yards for boats and trailers which are not on the water and cost much less.

Tow your boat down on your trailer and leave it at one of these off water storage locations.

Fly in and rent a SUV,almost all have a 2" receiver hitch. You need a vehicle anyway. This way you are free to travel all 120 miles of the Keys to try different islands.
(though Islamorada is clearly the best)
Our ramps are easy with pay and also free locations.

Marathon is about halfway to Key West and Sun Motors is one location that stores boats on trailers, though there are many more.

Contender has a good idea with placing an ad.We do not have a daily local paper, only weekly, so I would think the price would be reasonable to run for a month.

Craigslist under the Florida Keys heading would be a better choice in my opinion.

Paradise ain't cheap. Have a hurricane plan for your boat and theft insurance.

Good luck

Here you go Tony

It will not get better than this, a local school teacher with lots of medical bills is interested in storing your boat.

Fenced yard with access to electric to charge your batteries and water to wash your boat.

located on Plantation Key (Islamorada), one mile from the best boat ramp and all the non ethenol fuel you can buy. At the ramp (Founders Park)is a sandy beach(sunsets) and a swimming pool with secured parking for your trailer after you launch.

Instant Ocean and Gulf access via Snake Creek one mile away, for a price about the same as my monthly water bill :)

I will send an E-mail to your listing in your profile with the contact info.

Chuck
