I am looking for a cover for a 1993 Sport 13. The boat spends most of its time sitting outside through storms in northern California. I would like to purchase the best cover for it. Thanks in advance for your recommendations. Robert

Then you will want the Mills Mooring Cover form Wm. J. Mill & Co. http://www.millscanvas.com/frame_index2.htm |

The OEM for Boston Whaler Sunbrella covers is Mills Canvas in Greenport, NY. Great quality, fit etc, but.......as everything Whaler......an expensive initial investment. We have had several Mills covers and no complaints. Currently have a mooring cover, and bimini-suntop for our 13' Super Sport. Mooring cover protects from sun, birds (installed a Gull Sweep)and keeps rain out. Every weekend, teh cover comes off and it's spotless. One major differnce is the "clip" they have that fastens to the rubrail without drilling holes for snaps etc. Look up the year and model Whaler on their site. Give them a call for pricing. Ask if they have any "seconds" that may have a small patch or odd color. We saved by accepting one with a 2" x 2" patch. www.millscanvas.com |

I will also vouch for this Mills cover. I have one on our 13 and one for our 16 Nauset/Eastport. Great covers. Steve |

I posted a similar request some time ago. I took one posters advice and used a sliver tarp. Installed a pole system in the middle so water wouldn't collect and for well under 50 bucks had a great storage cover. Don't worry about bird droppings or sun damage. I'll just replace the tarp in a couple more years. |

The best cover or the most expensive cover? Most expensive is probably Mills. Great covers but I would by no means call them the best. A better cover would come all the way down the sides, cover the engine and maybe even cover the trailer if you so desire. |

A locally fabricated custom cover is probably the best VALUE for many of us.A discussion of the merits of tarps, stock, semi-custom, or custom covers can go on at great length and deserves a separate thread. Butch |

A locally fabricated Sunbrella cover will NOT cost less than the Mills cover nor will have the Mills clips to secure it.The Mills cover is a mooring cover. A cover that comes down the sides cannot be used when the boat is on the water and need to be tied off to the trailer frame, or a bazillion little hooks and screws need to be installed into the hull to secure it. If you are looking for economical full coverage of the motor and trailer too, use a brown or green plastic tarp. |

I tarp over my Mills cover for expected big storms. |

You should not have to...I heard they are made of Kryptonite. |

I probably don't need to. However for the price I paid for it, I would be super pissed if it ever blew off. |

Nick, 50% Kryptonite, 50% Kevlar, woven together. A great value over time.............just like a Whaler! [;-) |
