Hi. I'm eyeballing a potential project and need to know the rough dimensions that an old Montauk Trailer might be. Specifically, will it fit on a U-Haul Car trailer? (6.5' between wheels)

The item I'm looking at doesn't have a road-ready trailer.

Thanks

Dave

I still have the axel and wheels off of the original trailer to my 1977 Montauk. Saved it to make a portable BBQ one of these days....

Will measure for you tonight.

The trailer that was under my 1966 16 was not as wide as the boat.

The boat's beam is 6'2".

I do not have the trailer anymore so I can not measure it.

I'll try and check tonight when I get home.

If it is a car trailer you could always load it as far as you can with wheels on edge of runners and take off the wheels and let it sit in the axle.

Every trailer is different but my Shore Land'r trailer that was with my Montauk only came out about an inch or two wider than the rub rails on my Montauk.

Things must be going good with the Outrage if you are looking for more projects lol

I believe the width of my tires to be close to 7'4"
Can't the wheels be before/after or on top of the wheel wells of the u-haul trailer?

Or just use a 2x10 width wise on the trailer and ratchet the wheels to it

1978 shorlander is 68" wide, measured at wheels. It is a "narrow" trailer, in that the boat sits above the wheels, instead of inside them.

Thanks guys - that is helpful...looks like to be safe, I need to find an equipment trailer to borrow/rent.

Bob - it's not a project for me - well, it WILL be a project for me - but with someone else's money. I may have some items to sell from it as well. It is still far from a done deal....but I wanted to be prepared.

Mine is 80" +/- total width

Thanks, that's way too wide for the U-Haul Car transporter and much too wide for any of their utility trailers. I guess I'll look into other options!
