Oh yeah!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/elaelap/FilletReleaseWhaler009. jpg

Followed this guy around for a while today and watched as they put a couple of nice king salmon in the box. A very, very sweet Boston Whaler.

The bite is on here north of San Francisco. I even got one myself today fishing alone in my old Montauk, so, as I was reminded by a couple of locals, "Tony's got one...they must be like cement down there."

Nice boat, eh?

Tony

Is that a 27 Offshore? Sweet boat and nice photography.

Tony, do you think they'd let this crew aboard?

Great photo and an awesome boat.

Very, very sweet boat Tony. A crew on a vessel like that must be grinning at all times....

Re salmon - I had a cutlet tonight on my weber q220 grill (on a hotplate, marieated in light soy, pepper and olive oil), it was terrific. But - it could be nowhere near as good as you guys get.....catching them then eating them - great sport + great proteins......

Nice boat, no down riggers? Is that a Bar B Que on the rail?

"Offshore 27" The Holy Grail of Whalers bar none!

The downriggers are camouflaged. Right in the middle of the boat.

Man what a boat! After I win the lottery I'll get one. I wonder what it costs to run that for a day of fishing.

"I wonder what it costs to run that for a day of fishing."

A bit less than twice the cost of running an Outrage 22 in the same fishing expedition. It's about twice the boat than an Outrage 22 is and far more comfortable.

Any more shots of her Tony?

If the 22 is powered by two strokes, and "fillet and release" is powered by one [four stroke EFI] engine during trolling (alternating) then the cost may actually be less than the 22.

However, due to the much larger hull size and twin engines, the larger boat will use more fuel... but my experience with larger two stoke owners is they are floating fuel stations...

I just (9 a.m. Thursday) got off the phone with Jay, the owner of that beautiful boat. He's trying to register on this website but having problems. I'm going to email jimh and try to clear up the glitches. Jay's a retired firefighter; lives up north of Bodega Bay in Gualala; fishes albacore offshore and all the other stuff in this boat and in an aluminum dory-style Bayrunner. 'Fillet and Release' just got a slip in Porto Bodega, Steve, so welcome to a neighbor!

More photos to follow...drool. Wait 'til you guys hear the story of how he got that boat, and its brand new motors.

If you look over the left shoulder of my pal in this photo, you'll see an accidental photo of the stern of 'Fillet & Release' tied up in her new slip right across from 'Strike3'. Sharp eyes, Sean.

And here's another shot of the boat at sea. Check out the foggy skies and calm seas last week...don't I wish that would come again to our locale. It's been blowing 20-30 kts day after day since then out here in Blow-dega Bay, and the salmon are finally down there, damn it!

Don't be a tease, what's the story? :)

Magnificent boat.

Is it my imagination or is the guy on the bow of 'filet & release' a little green behind the gills:). Some days are tougher than others......

Man, the over the shoulder shot really illustrates the beam of that beast. Too wide even?

Thanks, now I'm dying of envy as well. That is going to have to be my next boat. I was fishing next to a 27 FC last weekend, practically drooling over it, but I like Fillet and Release even more. The Offshore model looks like the ultimate fishing boat.

I got the impression from both pictures that the man in the bow wasn't to happy about some clown taking his picture.

Dreamy...

Saw F&R when I fished with Matt and it was love at first sight. I bet that wide beam makes for a thirsty boat though...

Hi Tony: Thanks for posting those pics. of Fillet & Release. After we saw you near Bird Rock we ran down to Pt. Reyes and limited out with nice size fish(16-20lbs). The boat has twin yamaha 225 four strokes and burns about 1.5 gpm. It has a tower with outriggers and steering/power controls on top of the hardtop. We haven't run the hydraulic steering lines and shift controls yet but might for tuna later this summer. I co-own the boat with Chris Pebbles, a friend from Sacramento that I worked with for a number a years and he's about to retire. Anyway, I appreciate your telling me about this site and again, thanks for the pics.

Welcome to this forum, Jay, and Hi, neighbor. As you can tell from the comments, 'Fillet & Release' is the dream fantasy for many classic Boston Whaler enthusiasts (including me!), especially newly powered as she is. I look forward to seeing you out there.

Tony

P.S. I'm sleeping aboard 'Strike3' tonight so I can get a very early start tomorrow. I figure I might get a couple of hours in before the winds come up...looks like another one of our seemingly endless 20-30 knot days ;-(
