My recently purchased 1988 Outrage 18 does not have hinges on the anchor locker lid. Most of the pictures I have seen [show] hinges on the [starboard] side. Was this an option or has everyone added hinges? Thanks--Drew

My 1987 Outrage has SS hinges on the starboard side of the locker. I am the third owner, so I am not sure how it was delivered when new. If you'd like a photo of the hinge style on mine, I can send you one.

Drew--I do not know for certain if they were standard or optional but, I added them on the forward anchor locker hatch on my Outrage 22 and it made things a lot more user friendly. I would add them.

Thanks lizard and Jeff. I will add them. I was curious why they were not there in the first place. I saw no signs of them ever being there. --Drew

The Outrage bow locker hinges were not used by the factory until the 1989 model year, when manufacturing was transfered to Edgewater. My 1986 Outrage 18 did not come with them, but I added them after the 1989 models came out, as did many people.

I added the hinges to my Outrage. I bought heavier hinges than the common used style, on the [starboard] as well.

Good information. I knew there had to be good explanation.

Anyone know where to find the strange attaching mechanism that looks like two screws but one has a threaded sleeve the other fits into? What the heck are those called?

Mine stripped out yesterday and my bow locker is flapping in the wind :(

Irishcreamer,

You need to stop launching that little boat off those 10 ft. waves. (lol) Seriously, the five ft. waves on Lake Erie that come one after another are probably harder on the boat.

Well I can't help but drive my boat like that picture of Tom Clark when the fish are biting! Actually, I was catching some air on the swells Saturday...should really drive slower.

Anyhow, thanks for the links. I am thinking it may be best to through bolt the bow locker lid to the hinges with large washers. I am thinking this is the most secure method of attachment. PLEASE, someone let me know if I am missing something.

Thanks,
IC
